So much truth in your post Uzzi! And unfortunately all GR see is the fact that they are a family history site. They ban and delete people with no thought for the human beings behind the names. They never check or monitor to ensure the right people are banned/deleted and invariably respond to somebody who has a private agenda. It never occurs to them that, without the circle of friends on here chatting about everything and anything they wouldn't have a decent family history site with people who do look ups using their own time and money.

They don't realise that they need to preserve the core members who have been here a long time if they want to keep the family history side going. Yes they will keep enrolling new members and make money for that six month period, but without the fun and friendship of the chat and gen boards they will not have the core membership who automatically renew every year.

I've done all the do I don't I ...and I did it alone, I won't tell my decision cos thats private and privilaged info.

Where the heck would this site be without the oldies. Now I know some will say they will be replaced ..sure they will in numbers. But how can you replace the likes of Daff to name but one. (sorry Daff your name came to the front) and it's not just what she gives to the boards but how much she gives outside for other members.

Where else will you find a mother /daughter act like Joy and Stray. ?
How many of the 'new' people miss the oldies, now this isn't just miss there posts or name but miss them enough to check on them in real time.
yes for each one who leaves another may take the place but do they have the years behind them to care, when someone goes misssing??

Change is good but knowing your friends is better
