Morning folks,
well I'm going back to work today after having 12 weeks off after having my op, and I'm not looking forward to going. I've enjoyed my time off doing nothing but chilling. But the thought of having to deal with customers is a daunting thought after so long. I know that things have changed at work, the pressure to "sell" our store credit card has increased and several members of staff have left because of it, I'm one of the lucky one's who usually get between 3/5 a week, but I don't like having to sell credit to people wh maynot be able to afford it. But as we are told it's part of our job.
I've been there almost 10 years and I used to love my job, but nowadays , to me, it's not about providing a friendly service so that customers come back, it's about reaching targets.
Sorry for having a whinge. I'll let you know how it goes when I get home.

Hope it goes better than you expect Helen I hate being asked to take a store card and I hate being stuck behind somebody who is getting one. The form takes for ever to fill in and check. I do have a D******ms one though from way back - a gold one but I mainly keep it because it gives me discount in the restaurant for when we have coffee.

Hope the day goes ok Helen,try and take it easy especially as you'll not be as used to being on your feet for so long at a time maybe. It's a horrible thing having to 'coerce' customers into something they don't want or need...( the store card is in the draw as I speak lol) . I know the pressure of the weekly, annual sales target..you can only do what you can do!

Hi Helen, I cant believe its been 12 weeks since the op.
You might feel very tired as its your first day back.
Dont rush about too much when you get home and try and have a relaxing evening.

When will "the powers that be" learn that pushing things on customers harries them to go somewhere else?
It is such a short sighted attitude which upsets staff and customers alike.

Hope you don't get too tired and fed up with being back at the deep end, maybe they should have let you go back part time to start with to ease you in gently, Helen.

Take it steady and try not to get stressed about the store cards, I too get fed up with being asked but one assistant actually said to me the other day, Oh I asked you last week and you're not interested are you? Was nice to be remembered.
