I told on another thread of someone I know who this happened to. She is a 93yrs old woman, but luckily she didn't give them the 3 digits on the back of her card.

Banks are warning their customers not to disclose credit card details in response to unsolicited telephone calls or emails. The latest scam is to call people saying they have won a holiday from their bank, as credit card or MasterCard provider, or from a entry form completed at a store, and that there is a 'registration' or 'administration' fee to be paid. They use this scam to get people to hand over their credit card details, whereupon they immediately run up debts and withdraw cash on the cards. In e-mails, the scammers frequently copy the logos and headings used by the banks. Alternatively, there may be a message purporting to come from a bank, referring to "recent transactions".
