Tattooed initals

Just found my great grandfathers WW1 army record (found him on a hunch). He had the initals I.L.M.B. tattooed on one of his arms.

Now I know for a fact they are not his wife's or childrens initials, so was wondering if they were connected to some organisation around at that time. There were Irish connections on that side so maybe it stood for Irish ???.

Done a quick google but nothing seems relevant.

Hi Louise,

If your grandfather was in the Army and of Irish decendants, then take into account most Irishmen like a pint or two then maybe the initials tattooed on his arm stand for " I Love Mitchells & Butlers " they were a brewery !
