I've had some really good finds by googling the town where my family lived , there are often sites which have photos. Also googling the name of an ancestor and occupation if unusual, I've found references in two old 'travel' type books. |

Are you in Ancestry Lisa? If so you can research the Victorian Criminal Registers, county by county. I discovered that my Great Great Great Grandparents, (yes - both of them), were accused of Assault with intent to murder ! They were found not guilty, if they had been I suppose I would now be an Australian. Transportation to Botany Bay would almost certainly have been the sentence. |

hi lisa, what i started to do was download google earth and then type in some adresses of where my birth home was and grandparents etc and so on and looked them up on google earth street view. when i located some of the original properties still standing today, i saved them to a file to be printed out later when i write up the tree and family history. |

While waiting, I would look for books in the library, to read about the places where they lived, the social history, the transport in their times, fashions etc :-) |
