Has anyone else had someone on this site take people off their tree who are in no way related to them in any shape or form. Is so what did you do about it?

Do you mean that youv`e given tree access to someone your distantly related to and theyv`e taken information about others on your tree that they are not related to?


If so ,.....this comes up time and time again.

i can`t understand why anyone would want information about people they are not related to, but i think some people just like filling up their trees with names...

If they`ve taken living peoples details you can ask them to remove it, as living peoples details are not permitted without that persons permission, if they refuse GR can do it for you.

As for any others, if you opened your tree to them ,you gave them access, personally i would block their access immeadiatly, and you could prehaps PM them and ask them to remove anything your not happy with.

I have beem in touch with GM as they had living people on without permission and all as been blocked now. But I didnt realise that they had taken details of other relatives who are in no way connected to them. No I dont understand either. Its a bit much to get a match to a tree for relatives who have been stolen from you.

Glad you got it sorted............I had a similar thing happen to me,not living peoples details as i don`t have them on my tree, they are just down as living female 1930 etc...,but other people on my tree, who this other person was in no way related to.

I blocked their access, but strangely Istill have access to their tree....I check it now and again, and they have never updated it, so I think it was someone new, who prehaps was pleased to get a connection, copied a load of names and details down, and then probably didn`t continue with their new hobby.

The thing that really puzzles me is how do they know your information is correct, and that you`ve researched it properley??
