There are numerous WATSON families living in Gravesend and the surroundng areas - lol. I'm afraid if you want any one to help you, we need a bit more info.

As you know his full name ( which you haven't given) we could trace his death record which in all probability would give a relative, possibly his wife's, name. You'd have to order the cert from GRO to be sure.

If you have a suspicion who he married and where (even first name of his wife) we could probably trace the marriage record and wife's maiden name. From there, there is a chance of finding the birth details of any children of the marriage.

cityark.medway.gov.uk have various Parish records on line. If married in a C of E church, you may be able to spot them, although they follow guide lines with marriages up to about 1955. They also have C of E baptisms upto about 1975.

Laura has contacted me by PM.

I have asked her to put the information she is comfortable divulging on here. I've given her a possible death record in Lewisham, but need confirmation that it is correct as there are a number of registrations for men of the same name.

my great uncle was born in 1912 and died in 1969 so that probaly is right he would have been 57 .

To expand on Laura's family.

David Watson who was born in Ireland, probably died in Lewisham reg district in 1969

David Watson
Death Registration Month/Year: 1969
Age at death (estimated): 57
Registration district: Lewisham
Inferred County: London
Volume: 5d
Page: 288

He apparently married a lady from Gravesend, and had a child, Christina.

Laura is hoping to make contact with Christina.

If anyone can find the original marriage which leads to a birth of Christina before 1970 (in case he never saw his daughter!) we would be greatful. Christina would probably be married by now, and of course, any records as she is a living person, needs to be by PM to Laura.

One route may be for Laura to order the DC. With a bit of luck, his widow would have been the informant.

Thank you!!!
