hi does anyone know how I go about finding out about kids who were adopted out? I am absolutly clueless in this area. Long stry but hopefully with a good ending as cousin saw my message to my sister on facebook she requested me as a friend now she is looking to be re-united with all her siblings I only remeber 3 of them herself and the eldest two and her youngest brother (different Dad) she has located her two older sisters and I know where youngest is and possibly one other brother but we think there were ten of them how do we find out about the others x
all help would be gratefully recieved x

Those of us who are adept at TTF can do birth lookups for you at Ancestry if you don't have access. You'd have to PM the information. Hopefully a couple of the births could be identified by name to be sure of the father's and mother's surnames, and then search for others in the same general time period and place with those surnames. That's the first step, anyhow, to at least find out their names and years of birth if you don't know that.

Well that was fast! ;)

Good luck. (In case anyone's wondering, adoptions, and similar situations involving children placed in some sort of care, are the one situation in which I do think individuals should be entitled to access to records about living people, to enable them to know about and contact family.)
