Whilst OH is away i thought it was a good time to "sort through" masses of paperwork. found lots of duplicates of many papers, letters, addresses, etc so decided to sit down and put them through the shredder. So far so good. Then I caught some staples in the machine and so the paper stooped shredding. Wait for it!!
I ciouldn't make it work in reverse so used twezzers to poke around, but that didin't work. Went to kitchen and found a short sharp knife and .......I poked around with it forgetting that I had not turned the electricity off! Suddenly the knife was going through the machine amd I thought it was going to take my hand Off....

Turned electricity off post haste and now cannot remove the knife, no longer have a working shredder and there are dozens of pieces of shreeded paper all over the carpet..

So much for an early night, it will take ages to clear up, put the rest of the paper away and tomorrow going to have to buy another shreder.

PS would have a G & T but no tonic in the house.

Slapped wrist Bridget, and lucky you didn't get an electric shock pocking at electrical equipment with a knife.

Suitably admonished..I stand guilty as stated. It gave me a shock anyway..I was shocked and annoyed with myself for being so stupid and now having to buy another shreeder.

Ann t=seriously you are quite right and I have learnt....I am not sure how to dispose it as the knife is stuck in the machine??

Bridget who will not do this again

Bridget! You were so lucky you weren't hurt. That must have given you a huge fright. I guess you needed that
G & T, pity that there was no tonic. You will have to get a shredder that take staples.
