On wakening this morning OH said he thought he knew where the lids were!! He was right - there they were in the bottom drawer I keep small electrical kitchen appliances! Why there God only knows but we are in business again. Jars without lids as bad as having a cigarette and no lighter!

After 20 odd years of only having one day off work every two weeks changing from a late shift saturday evening to an early shift monday morning, I've enjoyed the time at home motowngal.
Especially seeing my youngest daughter growing up : )

I decided I should do a quick scan of my workspace (big squarish jar last used to hold water for me to drink here).

Just found the missing red lid, about 18 inches northwest of my keyboard.

Never mind then!

"OH has lost the lids from a number of jam jars"

How odd you should say. Just this a.m., I was again interrogating No.1 about the missing red lid for the big squarish plastic jar I find quite useful. I returned it to the dirty dish section about a week ago for him to wash, lid definitely intact. Lid now nowhere to be found.

(And no, I am not going to cook his meals *and* wash and put away the dishes, ta.)

Oh, it will turn up, it always does. Well actually, it's ever been missing before.

If I could remember what was in it when it got bought, I could just buy another one ... and make him eat whatever it is all in one sitting so I have my jar back ...

Actually I do exactly that motowngal. And I babysit mother-in-law and hopefully my new baby granddaughter too, soon.
You see I'm too bright to go out to work all day, I retired several yeas ago (in my mid 40's) and my good lady goes out to work instead. Lucky I'm not silly.

Rather than moan about what your men do wrong, easy DO IT YOURSELF.

What you have to realise Joanne, from a mans point of view, is that one day you might have another sandwich box and you might lose or break the lid. You have now got a selection of eight spare lids, any one of which might just possibly fit. Obvious innit. If you're a man : )

Ooh, I can sympathise! I am now down to one sandwich box and eight lids...............not one of them fits the box!!!!

God give me strength used to be my cry but since I now rely on him so and he does try so hard I try (but do not always succeed) not to find fault too much!!!!!

The things men mistake for rubbish amaze me. This amazement is only eclipsed by the things they define as potentially useful.

Being a retired engineer his workshop is so tidy people marvel at it! There are rows of jars with the lids screwed to the underside of shelves but even if I could persuade him to empty these of screws/washers etc - the lids would be of no use. Good thinking - you all stick together !!!!

If he's like me he will have a selection of spare jars in the shed full of nuts, bolts, screws, dried out paint brushes, 2stroke petrol mix for the lawnmower and any number of other useful things. Can't he just give one or two of those a rinse out?

the male mind. OH has lost the lids from a number of jam jars, (these are urgently needed for pickled onions/beetroot/chutney and jam. When asked why they were not on the jars - I took them off to wash them. Why were'nt they put back? Don't know. Spent fruitless 30 minutes looking for them and then admitted he might have put them in a plastic bag and then thrown them out.

If I did not need him I would do the same!!!!!
