don't we all ..

I see some sights living where I do and think boy would you wear that back home. OH for once is more tolerent but I say they had to buy it in the 1st place.

Do YOU buy clothes for a holiday that you know you will never wear again ?

there is more to this OH says yes but they are so cheap they throw them away
Ahah I say so you agree we live in a disposable society ...
but he says they buy cheap from the markets which only offer 1 fashion ...

mmmm so markets say men of over 60 have to fit their bodies into the speedos they wore 20yrs earlier ..come on fashion is long baggy shorts.
and did they state (the markets) that this sandal is great with this ankle sock s...

OH took the mutts out . but not before he got in the cheapness off markets etc and the lack of abilty to buy good.

I waited and said I would rather miss the cheapness and buy what suits me and I could wear at home .....

Your views ?

Who cares what people wear? If a man wears linen suits and Churches shoes and makes me larf, that's all that matters. Equally, if a man wears far too tight polka dot shorts and a sleeveless teeshirt that shows off his paunch to perfection, and is a rude pig, then I'm out. Reverse the two scenarios - same reaction. End of story.

No we don't buy clothes for hols that we don't wear again, but we don't always get a lot of use from them the same yr cos of our GB weather.
I have a Turquoise /blue crinkle effect long sleeveless dress which I bought a few yrs ago, which I adore the colour and the style it's classic, it always goes in my case , and with my newly acquired tan I wear it to work or general day wear. It can be tarted up with a pearly belt for evening wear.
That's just one item !!
Sandie.

I know what you mean tho..lol

Have to admt, Uzzi, when in Portugal, we used to play 'spot the Chav English tourist'.
Apart from being the one who was lobster red, she'd be the one in the boob tube that hung around her waist, or the one (giveaway this one) in the 'Arsenal' shirt - a lovely nylon number, with nylon bra, she had two enormous patches of sweat where her boobs were!!
He'd be the rather overweight bloke in the vest shirt, with ravishing red flesh, and wearing trainers and jogging pants - for extra 'come on' he'd have sweat patches on the inside of his legs.
They'd also be the ones on the stall in the market that sold sexually explicit souvenirs!
Oh - and they'd try to go into a church wearing very little!!

Have to admit to a pair of bright pink 'long' shorts that I wore once in italy - only around the villa we stayed in though!!
..one day I'll get too old to care and I'm sure they'll come into their own.......

Residents here love the tourist season. It keeps us amused for months & not just the Brits on holiday.
We are all agreed though that a little more respect for the locals would go a long way. I find it difficult to believe that large middle aged ladies would go into their home town centre wearing nothing but a bikini top & scanty shorts.
I appreciate that they are on holiday & what they wear in the resorts is a matter of personal choice, but the towns are where the locals live their lives & conduct their business. There are lots of very elderly Spanish people who find the whole thing deeply offensive.
The bus drivers here are authorised to refuse passengers who are not adequately clothed.
Still fun for us though.

One time in Portugal, my (then teenage) daughter and her girl friend came with us.
On one outing, I knew we were possibly going into a cathedral. I 'suggested' the teenagers wore modest clothing and took scarves.
Daughter's friend wore shorts.
When we arrived at the cathedral, I'm afraid I watched whilst daughter's friend, despite wearing a headscarf was refused entry, then pulled a long wrap around skirt skirt out of my bag for her to wear!

Being blonde, the girls attracted a lot of attention, and soon realised it was easier, and caused less of a problem (ie being pinched) to cover up when we went out!! LOL

Don't think your OH is a snob at all, Mowtowngal. Bet he looks good in those linen suits like my old man does. They scrub up pretty well sometimes, don't they?

Sometimes my OH cant be bothered to shave, and the easiest way to get him to do it is to ask him if he really wants to look like D, a man we know who is the scruffiest we know.
