Hi - I've been looking in birth and death indexes for any children that might have been born to my great grandparents as my gran always said that there were about 13, but only 4 are listed on the 1911 Census as alive. I know 2 of her sisters died as children but can only find a death record for one. How do I find any others that may have died in childhood/babyhood when I'm not sure of their Christian names. There are several born with same surname registered in the area in which they lived(Hammersmith and Fulham) in both birth and death columns but this doesn't connect them exactly with my family. I need the parents' names as well or the exact address. The lists give only the area. Also the dates miss the 1891 and 1901 censuses. Another question - why can't I find a record of the family in the 1901 census. It's on the 1911 one. Any help would be appreciated - thanks - Carla

If only 4 are listed as alive in 1911...how many does it say were born originally? Have 8 or 9 died by then? or could they have been born after the 1911 census....if so its much easier to track them as the mothers maiden name is listed from 1911.

Have you checked baptisms for the area? many people baptised children when they were very young, especially if they wern`t expected to live, you may find them there.

As for not beiong able to find a family in one census when they appear on the next...they may have for some reason missed the Census, but its more than likely that they have been mis transcribed.

I f you put up what information you already have, parents names etc..then someone will be able to help you.

How many children does it say they have had by 1911, and how many died to then?
Have you looked for the family on the 1901 census to see if some are listed on there that dont show on the 1911 ,so may have died between census
The only way now to is buy death certs as this will name them as son or daughter of the dads name.
Its a pity now that the checking point facility has been withdrawn,I went through finding my OH grans family where 8 children had died and ordered certs stating they must be the child of >>

It is also possible that some may show in the parish baptisms or burials on Ancestry
