Liz, I am so glad you are back in one piece. I was afraid you might have finished up in prison for assaulting everybody with ...... well, whatever there was to hand. Or finish up in the loony bin, a gibbering idiot. Now it is over, and hopefully you can relax and become your normal self again.

Huia.

Hi all, back safe and sound but as I expected things went pearshaped - o.h. and the son from NY, who goes back with his wife today and good riddance, had words and o.h ended up back in the hotel room towards the end of the reception, so no goodbyes to anyone. ( I had to take him back there as he was really unwell and upset at what his son said to him.) The way the reception was arranged was shambolic and our table were last to be called to the buffet by which time not a lot of food left altho a few more sarnies and bits brought out. I did persuade o.h. to eat a hearty breakfast at 9.30am with plenty of toast and a full English but the food wasn't put out till 4pm instead of 3 and there was no opportunity to get something to eat as the weddings were running late so a 12.30 ceremony happened 20 mins late and then there were hours of photos outside the registry office. By then o.h. was past the stage of no return, not so much with alcohol as he was fairly restrained, but with his diabetes as he had had to wait so long for food. Then he made a comment to the NY d.i.l. who is a real madam and more, and she rushed off to her husband, o.h.'s son, and piled on the waterworks, and up went the applecart. I witnessed her holding court later with some new male companions, friends of the grooms, and flashing the cash at the bar, pulling out wads of notes from her bag, which we think was the money o.h. had given them as a belated wedding gift, more than a couple of hundred which he had given each son altho he did send the son in NY money when he married in June 2009 From things we heard and saw, the constant pleading poverty and 'might have to give up her home to move into the inlaws' is a load of baloney, both of them smoke incessantly and were buying drinks for relative strangers and tipping at the bar, all out of o.h.'s hard earned money. He realises now they have probably been conning him and is very upset. They got money out of him for the son's fare over here, and he has sent them money in the past when they have said that with the son not finding work, they were struggling yet she found money 'from her sister' so she could fly over too and bought new shoes, dress etc etc and he had new shoes too, and his bro bought his suit for him - they were onto a good cash cow one way and the other.
Will relate the full story later, must get to bed, it was all very tiring for me and the evening was ruined by the shenanigans, so I was unable to enjoy the last part too.
Hotel was ok, nice big room and 6' wide bed so I was happy lol

Thanks again for support, had a funny incident which will make you smile - more later

Just glad it's all over now

love

Hi Liz, I too have been thinking of you, I hope the wedding went off ok and you didn't get too stressed out. I think a lot of the stress beforehand was the anticipation of what would happen on the day, it is over now so just relax and get your breath back so to speak.
Speak to you soon, maybe this week.

I too just saw Reading on the news. Oh goodness it's a mud bath !!! Hope your son wears his wellies!!! Some were wading around in bare feet. It's a right mess.

Well hope you see this when the wedding is over and done and that all went well.

Hope you can sort a break soon too.

Hi all, just a quick visit before I go to bed.

He came back after the meal out and fell asleep in the chair, had at least one pint of guiness so no surprise there lol
Says the d.i.l. is nice, another older lady, strange that o.h. married a woman a few years older than he was, then got involved with me, and I am 7 yrs older than he is. The son who married the woman in NY is 26 now and she is early thirties, with two children from two relationships, and his son who marries on Saturday is 29 and is marrying a woman of 31. Sort of a pattern there lol
Seems the son getting wed told his bro nothing will change when he gets married and he will still live as he does now, and go out when he wants. The bride to be has been complaining about it already, bodes well eh when a little one will be in the family from November and the mum won't be working for a while!
Everything nearly ready now so just a little bit of packing to do when I get up and off we go, I will have a quiet evening in the hotel while he goes to spend some time with both sons at the hotel they are staying at. As he will be driving himself there and back he had better stay sober!

Thanks again for all your support through my stressed out weeks, will be lovely to relax after the end of this month.
Elaine, had just pmd you before reading this.
Kathy, will call you for a natter next week when he is on late shift.
take care.

Hope it's dry for the wedding Liz, I'd hate to see that posh frock get wet.

Don't forget to take notes, we're all waiting to hear what happens.

Thanks all, just nipped on here while he is wining and dining (lunching) the american contingency lol Nice one Bob!

As long as he doesn't bring them back here afterwards I will be happy, I am in scruff kit ironing last minute things and sorting out packing, so there's no last minute rush tomorrow. Weather is awful, tipping it down, keep thinking of my poor lad trying to put his tent up at Reading if it's as wet as it is here, very blowy too. Don't think the Mohican stands a chance lol

take care everyone, looks like a typical BH weekend weatherwise, so batten down the hatches. I have my see through plastic mac handy just in case, don't want to hide my new outfit but don't want to have the dress clinging to me either, like a wet t shirt competition lol Wish my new shoes weren't peeptoes lol the wedge will keep me off the ground at the heels but my toes will let water lol
Btw thanks Joyce, the gift token went towards a lovely patent bag to match the shoes!

Lizxx

just looked at the forecast, for here, Reading and Stowmarket it says sunny over Sat and Sun, but since it also says light rain for here and this is definitely not light rain, I don't have a lot of faith lol
