Computer Compatibility Issues - GEDCOM files

GEDCOM

I use a computer that is MS Windows based.
A member of my family uses an Apple based computer.

We have each sent each other a GEDCOM file from the family tree program we us. But we both cannot read each others files.
Can anyone help in what we can do to send our tree to each other? I did ask Genes Reunited but ended up getting a non answer. I would have thought they would have come across this problem and also have a solution.

Is there a program that will convert from Apple to MS or visa versa.

The is nothing wrong with our personal tree programs - it does appear to be and MS / Apple problem.

Not sure what your problem is. A gedcom file is simply a text file, there is nothing to convert. Which genealogy programs are you using? Are you certain you have created gedcom files, and if so what is their format?

I am creating a GEDCOM file.
My program is Legacy and I have found it excellent.

Not sure what my family member is using on her Apple computer. She said she just gets a list of text when she opens mine - which sound like she is not importing / exporting properly.
'
Just wondering if there could be a difference between the programs that are MS based to the Apple.

A bit frustrated at the moment since I would like to help add my data to her file and Legacy allows me to open multiple files and then drag members, marriages and even families across.

Thanks

It sounds as though she is opening it in a text editor (I.e. the equivalent of Notepad) rather than a proper tree program. I don't have any first hand experience with Apple, but I know there are tree programs out there, although the choice is limited.

MacFamily Tree 5 is
