a orange bright light in the sky someone mentioned it being sunlight be nice if your on hols this week and myby my tomatoes may turn red at last, bet there is loads of green chutney being made x

i duno i dont like chutney n iv nver seen her make it lol,

she makes a lovely jam, nt wiht tomatoes tho haha

i loathe tomatoes, tho so wont be eating none of them littleman wont eat tomatoes either, but he sucks the tomatoe purree tube haha x

its gross isnt it, but he issists on having it on cheese onv toast, on crackers and on his cheese sarnies even the smell knocks me sick x

Fried green tomatoes are delish. Although it's one of those things that women seem to like and men don't.

Slice about 1/4 inch thick.
Dust in flour.
Dip in beaten egg.
Dredge in cornmeal.
Fry. Careful not to burn the cornmeal.

Very yummy.

Yes, the problem here is that No.1 doesn't like cornmeal. So I'm not even sure how he feels about green tomatoes!

That's why it's a southern US dish not as popular on the other side -- corn (what you call sweet corn) was a much more popular food in the US all round from way back, because it's a native crop. So lots of southern US cooking has cornmeal and cornflour -- and of course Latin America has been eating it for a whole lot longer than that! Cornflour - masa harina - was their staple rather than wheat flour, for tacos and tortillas and all that. ;)
