I like to read peoples day to day experiences, serious or funny. If you recognise my name you know I am interested in the animal and bird threads too. Comments on news items that i may have missed as i dont take a newspaper, not being near the shops. Peoples problems are interesting and often we are able to help, even if only to give someone a place to let off steam. This is a good thread.

Fair comment Rita,

Now I know what you mean for your reasons for scrolling back, I used to do that myself when I joined the quizzes / A to Z's not to be repetitive , but only for about 4 pages, and yes names, whatever, during the thread do get repeated,

I thought you meant you were looking for GR peeps details as you said quote
'Checking back on some of these games they started in 2008 so you have to scroll back for two years to see if you are adding a different name or number to that games thread.'... the word number threw me cos as I know there are no threads that have numbers, hence I thought you meant GR peeps.

Enough of hijacking the thread which is What you would like to see more of on Gen, rather than not .......

Regards
Sandie.

Rose I so wish I could write poetry, thats why I enjoy and
admire those with that talent. If I could I would have joined
you in the writers group but alas I'm not that clever. Thanks
for the invite.

Emma, there used to be quite a number of poetry threads on here ( you don't fancy writing some and joining the writers group do you? lol just a bit of canvassing here) .

I've never found either board cliquey to be honest, probably because if there was one I ignored it and waded in anyway ;) I add to what interests me regardless of who posts it :)

I like to read the 'serious' threads and wish there were more of them, debates if they're well reasoned, not just a rant.

I would like to see more genealogy threads also , 'Tips' board is good for snippets but I'd like to read some full stories of how people have done their tree over the years and what they feel they have gained from it.

Threads about places are always interesting to me, either because I have been there and it brings back memories , or have found relatives who lived there...or just because I might one day get the chance to go!

which gives me an idea :)) >>>>>

Choices we all make them and thank goodness we have
them to make.Ya pay your money soooo. However I would
love to see a thread for poetry, yep you read right, I've had
some great laughs on these boards reading them and also
shed a tear with some others. My choice, nice thread by the way.

The old format was easier to see what we wanted to add to.
We were able to click and see if WE had already added to the thread too.

As for what is added to this board... anything which takes your fancy is fine by me.
We need to be able to join in a little SOCIAL NETWORKING... It certainly gives me a lift and somewhere to go when I feel the need for company.
Why does it upset anyone that we may be a little frivolous on here?
There are so many threads where we can be as serious as we like.
AND.... on the whole, this General Topics thread is a friendly one.
I don't feel threatened on here as I have done on other threads.
Leave this as it is, I( think most people are happy with it.

Rita-- in reply,

I'm not quite sure to what you were referring in your post.

To get the gist of the the game / quiz you only have to change the last reply button to get up the first posting.
Why would you want to scroll back 2 yrs to see if whoever is adding is changing their name or number, that's beyond me.

I follow the threads and you always strike me as a very nice person so why if you don't like such threads do you wish to check the names and No.s?
Don't answer, I'm just bemused, and I do not wish to start an argument.
The threads are very friendly , the Number's thread especially and I have many e.mail friends from it I didn't have before.

I was and am Sandie, then $andie and for Xmas and ever since $parkling $andie, I have made no secret of that, in fact I posted it when every changed their names for Xmas-- now I can't get Sandie back as GR says it's not allowed.

I only wish they did have a new thread for Quizzes , but would still add to Gen and Chat if I found something interesting, and would start my own thread on either (not quizzes) if I thought something important was relevant that I wanted to pass on to others.

Regards with no malice:) I know that none was intended from your posting either.
Sandie.

The edges have got blurred between General and Chat since GR changed the format a while ago, so it's difficult to say. General used to be full of the sorts of threads that are now on Chat.

I used to add threads at night but no one looked back when they came on here in the mornings so I add fewer threads now - what's the point?

It's getting quite sparse here for interesting threads now, when I think that in 2005 there would be up to ten pages of threads to go through to keep up with folk and now there are maybe three if I am lucky, it shows how many people have left and how few newbies stick around.

Shame really,

I do not wish to be contentious, I pay my subs and add to whichever threads to which I feel I want.
I have a 'quiz' thread under my name and maybe one of the person's the previous person is referring to.
I would prefer that there was a Topic page related to them as I suspect a whole lot more of people would too !
When I joined GR I only went on General as Chat seemed a bit weird.
But I now flip back and fro between both and enjoy both , and add to either when I feel that I want to.
There is never any nastiness on the quizz threads and often a lot of banter and chat.esp the one's I join in..
Some peeps put up threads either on Gen or Chat just to goad, now that I can see straight away and would not add to that thread.

I know what I would like to see less of, that is those quiz ones people are doing, gets so boring as you have to scroll right down to the bottom sometimes there is nearly a whole page of them !
Sorry rant over

on General?

I must admit I'm very reluctant to post genealogy threads on here as I get more response from chat these days. I'd like to see more genealogy threads though.
