Interesting this! I think I read something similar not so long ago but not sure where.
What I will say is that since I have been eating mainly cinnamon and raisin bagels dunked in coffee for my breakfast most days instead of cereal or toast with spread, I have lost a little of the fat around my middle. I even mentioned it on a thread on general board.
I will certainly get some cinnamon and try some of the other things, I already have the honey. Anything is worth a try, if it means I could lose some weight.
Thanks for adding this info

I'm healthy, apart from slightly high BP, and if it appears that a teaspoon or two of honey & cinnamon is good for the body - I'll take it!

I took cod liver oil for a while - then looked at what an excess of vitamin 'D' can do to the kidney - having found out 2 years ago that I only have the one, I'm a bit precious about 'Kevin' - healthy though he is.
Having googled Honey, cinnamon and kidneys, it's all good!!!!

...actually, honey, cinnamon and kidney sounds like a good meal....!!!!

Aaaargh!

"Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada , in its issue dated 17 January,1995"

Not it is not! It's one of the most appallingly trashy tabloids to come out of the USofA!

Here's a current headline:

http://weeklyworldnews.com/headlines/9352/michael-jackson-faked-his-own-death/

Of course, that's not what the article actually says. ;)

I'd say everyone should feel free to eat honey for any reason -- except -- it simply is not meaningful to say "if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients". The same is true for sugar -- if taken in the right dosage.

Honey has just about the same carbohydrate value as sugar: two tablespoons of honey contain 35 grams of carbohydrate. And if you are an insulin-dependent diabetic, that calls for a dose of insulin, just as a small chocolate bar with the same amount of carbohydrate would. There are undoubtedly diabetics who don't know better than to believe this sort of thing, so it could be dangerous.

Generally, there's no advantage to substituting honey for sugar in a diabetes eating plan. Both honey and sugar will affect your blood sugar level.

Honey is sweeter than granulated sugar, so you might use a smaller amount of honey for sugar in some recipes. But honey actually has slightly more carbohydrates and more calories per teaspoon than does granulated sugar — so any calories and carbohydrates you save will be nominal.

If you prefer the taste of honey, go ahead and use it — but only in moderation. **Be sure to count the carbohydrates in honey as part of your diabetes eating plan.**

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd be having to read some of the research vaguely alluded to in other bits before believing that, either. Getting one's scientific/medical advice from emails isn't the wisest idea. ;)

Interestingly, though, *cinnamon* was being considered for having beneficial effects for diabetes. It seems this is not standing up to further research.

In any event, a little cinnamon with one's 2 tbsps of honey is not going to cancel out the sugar!

I can't stand honey, but that's beside the point. ;)

Susan ..enjoy your bath

Jill you have reminded me that as a child I was given honey and lemon when I was bronchatic (sp). I was also given at night hot honey, lemon and whisky and water ,, I hate whisky so maybe thats why I don't like honey either.

I seriously will look into the honey side of things again mind, I might even add cinnamon which incidently I don't like either.

Some time last year when I went to the doctor with a persistent cough - he sneered at the idea of cough medicine. "Don't bother with them" he said "they don't do any good. The best things for a cough are (1) stop coughing [I know ... I laughed - but when you cough with a cough you make it worse] and (2) honey and lemon in a bit of nearly hot water."

You can take the honey and lemon as often as you like and it's the best thing ever.

I received this e-mail today and thought I would share.
Incidently I don't like honey BUT I do like some of the flavoured honeys on the market and often cook with it. It's great for basting over meat...apple or rum on pork, peach on lamb etc.

Whoever thought?

Honey is the only food on the planet that will not spoil or rot. It will do what some call turning to sugar. In reality honey is always honey. However, when left in a cool dark place for a long time it will do what I rather call "crystallizing" When this happens I loosen the lid, boil some water, and sit the honey container in the hot water, turn off the heat and let it liquefy. It is then as good as it ever was. Never boil honey or put it in a microwave. To do so will kill the enzymes in the honey.

Cinnamon and Honey
Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around. Facts on Honey and Cinnamon: It is found that a mixture of honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases.

Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada , in its issue dated 17 January,1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:

HEART DISEASES:

It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also, those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack.. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada , various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.

ARTHRITIS:
Arthritis patients may take daily, morning and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.

BLADDER INFECTIONS:
Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm waterand drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder..

CHOLESTEROL:

According to information received in the said Journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol.
