I had a letter LAST week & they want £2900, try calling them, it's an 0845 number & it's nigh on impossible to get through.

Hi Joy

If the taxman owes us I bet the money won't get to us for at least another year/
Going of the subject a bit but where in the Boro are you from. I was born and brought up in the Boro but left when I was 19

My daughter has been chasing an overpayment of tax in 2004/5 - when she was a student & working!
Two weeks ago she received a letter - sent to my address (she hasn't lived here for over 3 years) with a hefty cheque in it - overpayment for 2005/6.
Apparently an explanatory letter would follow. It arrived today.
With this letter was a run down of the overpaid tax in 2005/6, with a rundown of overpaid tax in 2004/5 - not as much as in 2005/6 (it should be more - as a student she shouldn't have paid ANY tax!) but very welcome - now I'm waiting for the cheque!
My question is - why was the cheque/information sent here when she has been paying tax from her current address for 2 years?
What if they'd sent it to one of the many temporary places she had lived?
Daughter will be writing a stiff letter!
