Often the GRO record will have a small s against the page nos indicating only a small cert would be supplied which doesnt give any parents details.
This isnt always the case though as have searched for birth names and found them with no indication of the S I believe though that the actual cert often has the annotation on it "adopted." depends when it was as to what the rules were at the time

Shirley I'm not an expert and may be wrong I think it may also depend on the year whether the S shows or not.

Hi SRS
Yes I agree. Know of two adoptions where the birth ref shows the s .but then again have found birth refs where its doesnt show even though the child was later adopted I have no knowledge of when it happened and why it didnt timewise

I was watching Heir Hunters and one of the birth certs had 'adopted' printed at the bottom in the left corner.

NORCAP give advice on adoption. The social services department where the adoption took place may help, but I may be wong about that.

unfortunately they can help search but unless you are the adopted person you havent got a chance of accquiring the records of another adopted person.
i have used norcap in the past they are however very helpfull where as social services cant help at all
