Thanks for the info SRS, but have you actually tried it, and is it any good. I am not being sarcastic here, just wondered what it was like, and is it free.

I haven't tried it myself yet, it looks free, and I should imagine it would be from the BBC. Why don't you have a look Julia? (I'm not being funny either lol) You can view the posts. :)

It's been there four years lol Joy.I really do spend too much time here.

I went on there just about the time I joined here!

lol I read a lot and was interested in a lady's search for a relative's grave in Cheshire..I wonder if she ever found it?

But I think I liked GR better as a newby wanting to do the searching myself mostly and learn slowly, and I was seduced by the general boards here for some light relief ;)

I started with genforum about 2000 :) Loved it. Purely genealogy. People weren't condescending or argumentative, just helpful. Mixed a lot with Americans/Canadians/Australians also researching their trees.

Didn't see the point in paying to join GR. It's a pity when ancestry took over genforum and diverted people to their site, it sort of died a death. I think GR played it's part too.

i like Rootschat, I've started to have a look more and more over there recently.

Oh yes, have been there, too - genforum, that is :-)
But probably changed email address since then and can't post on original posts of mine, same as on ancestry message boards.

Looks a good site - and there are some daft threads on there too - so not all serious ones.

I might join - I'm spending less and less time on here partly due to the WUMs and their actions. Silly people but they cause so many upsets.

Thanks for the link SRS.

I love this prominent notice on the site:

Data Protection - please read

The Data Protection Act prohibits the discussion and exchange of information relating to living persons on these boards. Please refrain from sharing information such as names, addresses, telephone numbers etc of family members you believe to be alive.

I know people come to the TTF board here looking for living rellies, and I usually sympathize, but it's problematic nonetheless.
