Totally agree, Rose. And I think Russell made the point very well.

I've added the time below SRS ...as I warn there is a lot of 'adult' humour in the whole show.

which way are you disagreeing about Russell SRS ?lol...I will say you really do need to see that bit as part of the whole thing for it to be in context.

He wasn't knocking people who are 'vocal with purpose' ie those who complain to improve things..

I think this might be the episode if anyone wants to watch

I disagree , not about the news items but about the Howard sketch (not that i saw it so may not really be in the best position to disagree).

I think people should be active in all parts of the community. That people get involved in objecting to local life ie bin collections every fortnight (not that I object) I think is good as I think people are too apathetic about issues these days.

However, at the same time I also think that people should be vocal and active in the larger political scenes such as what's happening abroad.

I think I'm probably as guilty as most people.

Ahhh I'm glad he was highlighting how shallow "we" can be in a humorous way:-)

No no Tooty Fruity it wasn't a 'sick' joke...it was a satirical observation, with a lot of humanity behind it from him, of how 'we' in this country tend to moan about things that we really shouldn't... that in relative terms we really don't appreciate how lucky we are.

It was part of a complete 'routine', funny but scathing at the same time, very accutely observed i think, behind the humour.

It seems to me that a lot of people in the world only care about things that effect them on their own doorstep.

I never saw the Russell Howard scene but from what you have described I think it was sick. Human suffering is no joke.

won't agree , but I don't care lol.

Just watching two news items back to back...Pakistan where 'home' is a tent and women weep for their drowned children

and a 'what do you think the Govt should cut?' roving reporter item...a hairdresser snipping away at a man's sparse hair...saying "we should cut humanitarian aid..."

reminds me of Russell Howard the other night...if you saw it you will know...

Man in third world war torn country , poor and starving sits weeping on the ground

Russell "Why are you weeping? Is it because you have seen your family killed? because you are ill and starving? because you have no home?"

Man: In despair howls...." No it is because people in Britain only get their bins emptied once a fortnight"

It works better visually...but you get the jist .
