Hi Sue,

Most countries require a passport to be valid for 6 months after date of entry to that country . A UK passport can be renewed at any time. If it is renewed within nine months from the date of expiry the months left on the old passport will be added to the length (10 years) of the new passport. It is therefore possible to have a passport valid for 10 years and 9 months. Advice; renew it now (£77) so the additional months (about 5 in this case) will be added to the new passport.

Hope this helps I have just got mine back .....

If its a package type holiday, the travel agent should tell them.

I do believe though that passports should be valid for 6 months from the date of return to the UK. Not sure to which countries this applies to or its now a general thing, but i know this applied on the last holiday i had earlier this year

Again the travel agent should know this, but plenty of info if you Google

Further info

Is my passport valid for travel? It is important that the details on passports match those on the travel documentation. For example, the names on the passports must match the names on the flight tickets to avoid any problems on the day of travel. Your passport must be valid for the duration of your holiday, and in many cases for up to 6 months after your expected date of return. For further information, the Passport Office can be contacted on 08705 210 410 (calls charged at national rate).

If they are only going on annual holiday, I'd have thought so as the pp are currently valid.
