Well, I'll blame who I choose to blame, and have my own opinion of what those in the military are doing.

My point had nothing to do with that.

It was that the story started out sounding like left-wing anti-war / anti-military protesters trying to cause mayhem, and it turned out to be right-wing racists doing it.

It's not the soldiers choice - they join up and are sent there, and whilst doing the job - are doing it well - they deserve all credit..
Blame the politicians for starting the war and deciding to invade on pox all evidence.

Thanks very much for the link, Gwynne. It sure did sound like something else at first, didn't it? ;)

I will not be out clapping and cheering any of my troops involving in invading or occupying anybody else's country (for anything other than humanitarian reasons), myself. And I object to all the glorification they're getting hereabouts (we have "Highway of Heroes" and suchlike nonsense all over the place now, re Afghanistan).

But I don't expect to be starting brawls over any of it, or to see anybody else who shares my views doing it either.

Good to see our local police know how to deal with the EDL and well done to our local Islamic community for not rising to their bait.

Just seen the news.

The troops marched through the town and were applauded all the way. After the march 50 - 60 members of the English Defence League had to be dispersed. by police, one arrest.

Ah, that explains it the English Defence league, responsible for causing trouble before.

A far right extremist group.

from the look and sound of that clip, not so much a riot more Sunday drunks?

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 12 Sep 2010 20:53

Let's hope not. it doesn't sound like the sort of trouble Nuneaton would have.

The police always tape the bins when the army is in town and also on Armistice Day, ever since the days of the Ulster troubles.

Probably louts out to cause trouble, eh?

Dawnieher3headaches

Dawnieher3headaches Report 12 Sep 2010 18:44

part of town cordoned off police out in force and bins taped up for fear of bombs.

Reason for it -
soldiers marched through town today and certain people have taken offence to it.

Very sad world we ar eliving in
