Thank you to all of you who signed the petition to keep our Paul's killer in jail. Your help has been invaluable in achieving the following result.

Teesside killer Richard Blenkey must stay in secure jail
Sep 13 2010 Evening Gazette
A family is celebrating today after the doors were slammed shut - for the time being at least - on a Teesside child killer’s hopes of being transferred to an open prison.

Richard Blenkey, who abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered seven-year-old Paul Pearson in a Saltburn allotment in August 1991, has been trying to secure a move to a Category D ‘open’ prison after serving 19 years of his minimum 20-year life sentence.

As reported, Paul’s Redcar family has launched a campaign both to block Blenkey’s open prison bid, and to change the law so he must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register.

The register was introduced in 1997, but paedophiles jailed before then do not automatically have to sign it upon their release.

A Parole Board hearing was held into Blenkey’s transfer request on August 23. And now Paul’s family have the result they wanted - his request has been turned down.

Full story in today’s Evening Gazette.

Bless you all.

Dianne xx

Excellent result - let the rotter stay inside out of the way of decent people. He deserves no mercy and I hope you can continue the fight to have his name on the sex offender's register too
Good luck and well done
