perhaps he was time served Military that came out on a pension.

HI,

Does anyone know what the rank or profession of Pensioner would have been. It does sound fairly obvious but he's only 41 and did go on to have a family of 5.......Does it mean something else. The marriage took place in Downpatrick in 1878.....
