I GREW FOUR TOMATOE PLANTS THIS YEAR IN AN UPSIDE DOWN STAWBERRY HANGING BASKET,GRANDDAUGHTER LOVES GROWING THINGS AND SHES SIX,
WE HAVE KEPT ACOUNT OF HOW MANY PICCKED (HOW MANY SHE ATE STRAIGHT OF THE VINE IS ANYONES GUESS BUT A FEW)
JUST PICKED 130 ADDED TO OTHERS ITS NOW 621 AND MORE RIPENING,

FRIENDS ARE GETTING A WEE BIT FEDUP OF POTS OF TOMOTOES LEFT ON THEIR WINDOW SILL,
NOT BAD FOR AN OUTLAY OF £2

That's great -- I first heard of this in an article in the Toronto Star about two weeks ago. The columnist hadn't had great luck with them, so I'm glad to hear somebody did, because I may just give it a try next year!

I love Tumbling toms, shop bought tomatoes can't beat the taste,

WAS FOUR TO FIVE FOOT WIDE,THE BASKET HAS SIX HOLES BUT BECAUSE IT WAS HANGING BY A WHITE WALL I DIDNT PLANT THE BACK TWO.
SO FAR LOST 6.I DROPPED THEM AND THEY SPLIT,
IF NOT QUITE RIPE PUT ON THE WINDOW SILL IN THE MORNING THEY TURN A BEAUTIFUL RED BY

Sounds like you have a glut Dizzi - homemade tomato soup is delicious and freezes well.

STILL MORE GREEN ONES RIPENING

Hi All. I think its been a good year for fruit this year. We just had 2 tomatoe plants for the first time, and had loads off them. One plant has tiny golden toms on it. We had hundreds of victoria plumbs, the most for 4 years. and golden delicious apples, have lots of them to, and its a very small tree.The cherries were delicious to this year.

where did you get the hanging basket from Dizzi?

Just seen this tread Dizzi we are virtually self-sufficient in regards to fruit and veg. we had 3 varieties of toms this year cherry, plum and beef right off the vine as well as cuccumber, red and yellow peppers, loose variety of salad leaves, baby charlottes and spring onions, we have also had some good maris pipers and cabbage, beans, peas, carrots, cauliflower and purple sprouting brocoli - our sprout did not favour well, but new to the garden we had butternut squash and pumpkins. My fav thought has to be the fruit trees apples, pears, cherries, plums, white grapes, black berries, strawberries and raspberries, and after we lost our pineapple last year Im pleased tosay the first year of out attempted pineapple as gone well still has two years to go but we will learn from the mistakes we made before. The smells in the garden are wonderful and it is still awash with colour as some flowers still going others dying to give way to the winter bulbs ~ glad we have so many friends, family and in particular elderly neighbours to share our crop with each year.

It is Sylvia. This year I have been unable to enjoy it as I have before and very rarely do I get a chance to sit out.

BY THE TIME SHOP BOUGHT REACHES THE SHELVES ITS TASTE
HAS WELL GONE,FARM SHOPS SELLING THEIR OWN CROPS
ARE GOOD BUT CAN BE EXPENSIVE,BY MY BACK DOOR I HAVE AN OLD METAL BOILER WITH MY HERBS & MINT IN,I LOVE USING THEM BUT OH WONT USE THEM,I HAD SUCH A GLUTOF LETTUCE PLANTS
I GAVE SO MANY POTFULLS AWAY BUT I ENJOYED GROWING THEM
