Dear All

Hello

On this day, 33 years ago, the pop singer Marc Bolan
was killed in a car accident in Barnes, London.

He was only 29 years old.

Mr Bolan had just completed a television series and was said to be poised to make a comeback after spending the last three years abroad as a tax exile.

Thank you for the memories Marc and RIP.

Take gentle care
Very best wishes
xx

Dear All

One of Marc Bolan's last songs:

Hey, Hey...

Sing me a song that the world can sing along
And I'll show you a song that stands for living
Sing me a song that the world can sing along
And I'll show you a song from the heart

White, blinding light, that's so bright
It enfolds you
Scream that's your dream, it's so real
It remoulds you

Sing me a song that the world can sing along
And I'll show you a song that stands for living
Sing me a song that the world can sing along
And I'll show you a song from the heart

Yeah, Yeah

White, blinding light, that's so bright
It enfolds you

Sing me a song that the world can sing along
And I'll show you a song that stands for living
Sing me a song that the world can sing along
And I'll show you a song from the heart

Take care
Best wishes
xx

I remember posting tribute threads for Marc; as sometimes happens, one disappeared and I can't find the other now either! :-)

So - R.I.P.

Ride it on out like a bird in the skyway,
Ride it on out like you were a bird,
Fly it all out like an eagle in a sunbeam,
Ride it all out like you were a bird.

Wear a tall hat like the druid in the old days
Wear a tall hat and a Tattooed gown
Ride a white swan like the people of the Beltane,
Wear your hair long, babe, you can't go wrong.

Catch a bright star and place it on your forehead,
Say a few spells and baby, there you go,
Take a black cat and sit it on your shoulder,
And in the morning you'll know all you know.

Wear a tall hat like the druid in the old days
Wear a tall hat and a Tattooed gown
Ride a white swan like the people of the Beltane,
Wear your hair long, babe, you can't go wrong.

I have memories of T Rex and Marc Bolan's records in my younger days, (well just 30) I only have to hear Ride a White Swan etc and the memories flood back. I just googled and found his birthday was 30.9.47 so he was only a little younger than me. Had he lived, he would be coming up to 63, same age as me now. Wonder how he would have aged and what his path would have been had he not died.

Always felt at the time that Marc Bolans death was overshadowed By the death of Elvis just a month earlier......same thing happened last year, someone famous died the same day or around the time of the death of Michael Jackson, and they were relegated to a small side column in the papers....can`t for the life of me think who it was.......

Like you Pam loved Ride a White Swan ....

NIcky, I think that it was Farrah Fawcett that died near the time of Michael Jackson.

Thats it Joy ...thank you..

don`t you think any other time she`d have made front page news?

In Charlies Angels she was the pin up girl of the 70s, and i believe that famous iconic poster of hers was one of the worlds best selling posters.....she went on to be a really credible actress and was amazing in The Burning Bed and Small Sacrifices...both made for tv movies, but they really showcased her talents.

I loved T-Rex. I remember them on Top of The Pops.

AND - They are the only band (that I know of) who have ever sung a song with my name..... Debora.

I think the same thing happened with Mother
Teresa when she died. Also a fan of M B
and remember the young girl who lived next
door to me being in hysterics when he died.

Emma ..... a friend of mine at the time was so mad about Marc Bolan that when he died she went half round the bend , it was all very traumatic at the time . A shame he died , I liked his music .

Mother Teresa died at more or less the same time as Lady Diana I think .
