Today I saw more Christmassy stuff for sale in local supermarkets, and notice a message on my homepage saying 100 days to Christmas, which fills me with dread - I don't really want to think about that yet!
Then I noticed an ad at the top of this page for Travelodge and it showed snow coming down! For heaven's sake, it's not even October yet.
There must be so many people dreading winter and Christmas with the cuts that have happened and will happen and the vat increase in the New Year.
All the people who worked for Connaught in our area, who have lost their jobs... our local Council signed up with Connaught only recently after the City Care contract finished, those workers must be so worried as many CityCare folk were taken on by Connaught I think. Repairs and such are on hold too except some urgent ones being done by quickly appointed contractors on short term contracts so people are having to wait longer for things to be done on their homes, verges won't get cut, other things won't happen in the city - it's awful

The only good thing I saw recently is that the Tv Licence is staying the same price, and not being increased for at least a year!

Hi Liz
I hate seeing Christmas stuff so early,
In August - went to buy a birthday card, and found Christmas cards already on sale, this was mid august. Far too early.

One of the big London stores apparent;y started their Christmas campaign - for want of better word early August
Too commercial these days

Hi Liz and all. I posted the other week on Chat, that OH had seen the tins of chocolates already in T**co. Now they are filling up their shelves in M***sons today with the stuff.
All week until today, I have had an advert on my screen for that place that Lenny Henry stays at for the weekend, complete with falling snow.
I just can't believe it, is nothing sacred anymore.

I thought we might have a delayed start to the Christmas build-up in our nearest T**co because it is having a major revamp not due to finish until October, but No...this week the Christmas cakes, chocolate Santas and selection boxes are all on the shelves.
Far too early with over 3 months to go.

If you do want large boxes/tins of sweets though, the Co-*p have them on offer for £4.75....-offer finishes soon.

Our new Morrisons opens across the road from here on Monday, we have been without a local supermarket for months and it's been really inconvenient, being used to one on the doorstep.
I bet there will be lots of Christmas stock in, the nearest Co op have paper and selection boxes and stuff already out on the shelves.

I think special Christmas things shouldn't be out till the end of October at the earliest.

Awful isn't it, I don't think they should be allowed to have any Christmas stuff on sale until November. The summer (such as it was) is hardly over.

Hi All - Yep, Christmas is earlier every year! Mind you, it's so cold 'ere tonight, it might as well be December! W hen we were kids, Bonfire Night was the big event in the Autumn Term & Christmas wasn't thought about until after that!

Mind you, in defence of mince pies -= I can eat 'em any time of year BUT only the home-made kind, Thanks. Likewise, Christmas Pud is always acceptable - Shop bought O.K. for them! - Yum! (Only had salad tonight, mistakenly thinking we were still in a warm month. Ah Me. xxx

p.s. Should have said - My Holly tree is plastered with berries again this year - Bright red already. Always look better in Autumn - The birds have usually scoffed the lot before Christmas!

I hate Christmas for the simple reason is the Christmas Trade shows start directly after Christmas................have only ready done my order for Easter Eggs and sun preps for next year.

And who said it was fun being in the retail trade...............................
