16 year old daughter has been feeling rough tonight and asked for a hot toddy. Panic (?)... oops no honey.

Gave her Lemsip with apricot jam - her response....... "you can't beat your hot todds Mum".

When I was ill as a child, my mother bought me salmon as a treat - it was cod with some pink food colouring put in the water.

My son hates onion so if I make a sauce that needs onion for flavour I mince it up so he doesn't notice the pieces and he always says how much he enjoyed the meal:-))

SM - reminds me that son would only have HP sauce - I was a single mum and counting the pennies. I used to buy very large bottle of Spar brown sauce. As long as it was brown and came out of an HP bottle he was happy - and so was I.

Ha! I used to do this with Heinz tomato sauce....it was in reality decanted from Sainsburys sauce bottle.....which the children swore they didn't like!!!!

OOh - what a lot of deceivers you are - especially the sauce Chris & Tracey!
Mine were told 'That's what there is - if you don't like it - tough!'

....am I the only parent who told their children that the Ice cream van (round our area EVERY night at 8pm) only played it's tune when it was empty.......
Unfortunately, the girls soon realised that it stopped - right outside our house - why would it stop if it was empty?

Maggie - I use to tell mine the Ice Cream van was a music van to keep people happy.

Others I have told:
Sons were often on antibiotics as children till they got their tonsils out but had got use to having medicine everyday so started giving them a spoonful of honey when they asked for medicine.

Eldest wouldn't eat cabbage but loved lettuce so told him cabbage was cooked lettuced worked a treat.

As teenagers they wouldn't eat homebrand biscuits so solved that by putting all biscuits in a biscuit tin with no labels never any biscuits left in our house again.

I think us mums can be very creative when we have too.
