Julia, it always makes me wonder who thought of designing such yarns, and how did the ideas come to them? It's a very clever idea really.

I looked at the site and saw all the colours - they are lovely. I suppose you could knit a strip and put round the edge of a knitted jacket or something too. Enjoy choosing the next colour lol

The only thing I know about Can Can is the one in Paris, that was all Frilly and ooo La La. No knitting needles needed though.**M**:o)>

Hello Liz, thank you for your interest.
Yes, I too have more scarves than you can shake a stick at, but when I opened the Woman's Weekly mag. a little while ago, and saw the pattern, I just thought I had to have a go at it. It is knitted on 8mm needles, which are very thick, therefore the rows are very deep, which is just as well, because I found it a bit difficult to get a speed up. There are only 8 stitches per row, and every one is a knit row.
I believe there is a wide range of colours, plain and print. Mine was classed as a print, because it runs purple into deep cerise. I also saw on the woolshop counter, a ball that ran black, white and grey, and I have seen various shades of plain pinks. It costs £9.99 per ball, and you only need the one.
Hope you have a go

I just watched the instruction video Julia, and it looks interesting - trouble is I have dozens of scarves already lol

I then watched the videos about continental knitting, it looks very easy so will have to start something and have a go. I think it would be easier for someone with arthritis perhaps as the right index finger of mine gets sore if I knit for too long.

Did you knit your scarf in garter stich or stocking stitch and what colour did you use?

Hi Stray Babes, was it easy, well I'll say yes and no to that. It was easy in that it was just plain old knit stitch every row, and it frilled up as you knitted it. But I found it awkward to handle, as on the ball it is only about half inch wide, and you have to open it out as you go along. Told the lady in the woolshop I would not do another, but they are bringing out new colours, so I bet I will. Sucker for a challenge when it comes to knitting, me.

When I finally got my yard from the woolshop, they had to order it in from Germany, I managed to knit it in one afternoon. All those frills ontop of me opera singer chest, will make me look like a proper diva, or a can can dancing floosy. LOLOL

Never heard of the yarn, but your description intrigued me - found this link which might help - it looked a bit 'clumsy' to knit with to me:

Has anyone knitted with Rico Can Can Print yarn. Picked up a magazine at the supermarket this morning, and there is a frilly scarf, made in this yarn. The yarn comes, as, and is refered to as ribbon. But looking at the instructions, as you unwind the ribbon,it opens out into a ready made mesh, which you then pick up and knit 8 stitches evenly across the mesh, which then frills up.
Wondered how easy it is to work with.
