I was brought up having chickens in the garden with other animals at home, rabbits, pigeons, dog, budgies, and would happily have some if I lived in the right place, nowhere here to have any sadly. |

nudge again. Chickens make nice pets, and they dont need a walk, manure is good for garden too, surplus eggs can be used on the dogs plate, or the cats, and added to mashed potato make a nourishing dish. |

Hi, I have rescued hens from the Battery Hen Welfare Trust, Kent branch, (check out their website for pics and items for sale) and the chooks are very happy pecking around the wood and laying eggs for me. They are also quite tame! |

How I wish i could take some, but dont live anywhere that I can have them. Nudge for those who do, they dont take a lot of looking after and do repay with eggs. They can be company in the garden too. |

My ex-batts are laying far more eggs than we've ever needed, we give them away to neighbours, friends and even the postie takes a box when we see him. |
