You can stick a notice on your front door stating "No Cold callers Please"

From Friday apparently Energy company callers have to take notice of this as there isa change in the Law, which will be a comfort for many as i have found they can be quite pushy.

EDIT...This is taken from an email from the Martin Lewis site..

FREE 'No Cold Callers' Sign - new rules start FRIDAY
From Fri all energy salesmen MUST 'officially' obey Cold Caller Signs
On Fri the EnergySure code of practice will officially include rules that energy company sales staff shouldn't knock on any doors displaying a 'no cold callers' sign. While it's been policy for few months, this is the final step in nailing it down - now if they break it you can go to the Energy Ombudsman. Free MSE 'No Cold Callers' Sign: To help you take advantage asap we've designed a Trading Standards approved 'no cold callers' sign you can speedily print and put on your door or window. While energy sales people should obey, not every salesman will. If they don't, just point at the sign, politely ask 'em to leave and report them to the company. Stop Junk Mail, Calls & Faxes: You have the ability to opt out of junk mail, direct mail, telephone calls and faxes and to do it, you just need fill out an online form. More info in the Full Guide & Free Sign.

Hello Tinky, in this area where I live, all the villages have notices up that they are "No Cold Caller Zones". If there are Cold Callers then a call to the police will quickly get rid of them. Get your local council to designate No Cold Caller Zones

We have two notices on our door - they still ring!

OH is normally very polite but answers the door and says "can't you read" - unless it is one of the Charity Flag Days.

Tinky is there anyway you can see whos at the door before you open it?

If so I`d just ignore it and they will go away if no one answers.....
