Searching Marriage Records

I think I must be doing something wrong... I have been searching the marriage records for Arthur Dickens to Alice Wareham. The only trouble is I don't know the year, other than it was between 1965 and 1975. When I search a particular year, say 1967, it tells me there are 4 possible matches for Arthur Dickens. So I use my credits to view each quarter records only to find there are no Arthur Dickens listed at all throughout that year. Is it just a way of getting you to use up your credits in the hope you will buy some more????

Is this the one
Name: Arthur Dickens
Spouse Surname: Wareham
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1966
Registration district: Leicester
Registration county (inferred): Leicestershire
Volume Number: 3a
Page Number: 1728
Spouse Alice L wareham

Which site are you searching on, this is from Ancestry marriages 1916 - 2005, I put in his name and spouse last name only.
Sometimes using less info gives better results

Could it be that the search engine is only recognising the name Dickins?

Although it's years since I've used FMP bmd, they used to do the same ie just present you with the page that your particular surname was listed on. It didn't matter that your first name person wasn't listed.

Keith

are you searching on this site, GR?? DO NOT!

or on findmypast?

The very best sites to find births, marriages and deaths are:

www.freebmd.org.uk ...... from start of registration on July 1 1837 to, currently, about 1940/45. More being added all the time

www.ancestry.cu.uk ............... carries both 1837 - 1915, and 1916 - 2005

Thats the one, Julia. I can't thank you enough. I've been using the search records on this Genesreunited site with no luck. I suppose using up my credits would have found it evenually, but your help has really helped me out. Once again, many, many thanks.
