Ha, I'm useless. I'd say 1940s, by the clothing and hairstyles.

Not the US, though. US licence plates show the state and year, even back then.

Go to google images and ask for

old license plates 1940

(that's how they spell "licence") and you can see examples.

If you ask for

old licence plates 1940 Canada

you get Canadian versions (along with a little porn) -- also showing year and province.

So I'd have to say it's Brit.

Can somebody give me a clue for finding this picture?

If it's from this side of the ocean I should be able to tell. Being parked on the wrong side of the street isn't necessarily a barrier -- I live on a narrow one-way street, and the parking is on the "wrong" side. (Which means people constantly park on my side, because it feels like the "right" side, even if they're parked right under a "no parking" sign ...)

If you can tell which side of the car the steering wheel is on, that might be a better guide. ;)

Yes its a Yank of some sort but the number plate looks iffy for a British one. Those Jowets used to go quite well for what they were, very advanced for their time, had one of each.**M**

Thanks Merlin, but I was only having a stab in the dark, as a non car driving person. I also thought Buick, or some other American make of car. But, keep going back and having a look at the picture. I think it is in England, because of the side of the street the car is parked on, but that does not make it a British car. How about all those Yankies that were stationed here after the war. Just a thought.

Dizzi, Its either a Dodge or Buick,American Car, and the numberplate seems to be from there as well.Definenetly not a Jowet Javelin or Jupiter.**M**

Dizzi, I rather think this is one for the men folks who are into cars, which I am not. However, my absolute out of thin air guess is a Jowet Javelin for the car, only because I once knew someone that had one of these, in the 1960's, but it was old then.
Will have another look at the photo, but don't hold out much promise.
