lol Chris, I love snowdrops. All we have on our lawn at home now are patches of fungi and mushrooms. They come up once a year. Not very pretty!

Hi Julia and Island
The grass does get mown but sadly not very often. The relatives of neighbouring plots kkep theirs neat and tidy with strimmers etc. The plot was never grassed. My Dad liked it left with just earth and ornaments on it. Its next to a grassy bank so my Sister strims it when the grass invades. lol

Thanks Minnie,
My Dad loved planting his bulbs and my Mum always loved outdoor flowers.
We will set out to start planting this week.

I have very often seen peoples gardens where they have daffodils growing through the grass. If they can grow through gravel, I'm sure they will grow through turf easily.
Happy Planting.

If I put spring bulbs in the earth and then turf over, will the bulbs grow up through the turf normally as they would do if put in tubs, flower beds etc?
My Sis and I are thinking of turfing our Mum and Dads plot now their headstone is up again and thought it would be nice to plant bulbs instead of buying flowers all the time which last for a very short space of time.
