dizzi when i lived down south, i loved hastings and its pier. many a saturday/sunday spent on penny machines, crazy golf and fish and chips. how sad to see it on fire. brighton has only one left and i think eastbourne still has its pier, but not sure.
our holidays to the seaside were not complete without going on the pier as im sure a lot of people will agree.

Just on the news, two men have been arrested in connection with this.

If it has been done maliciously, how despicable to destroy something beautiful and historic.

They have rebuilt Weston Super Mare pier although I have not been to see it.

I think it was only this week that there was talk on the local news about what was to happen to Hastings Pier ..and now this.
Very suspicious.
The fire officer on the news said that the pier had been closed for several years and was already unsafe for the firefighters to go on and fight the flames in the conventional way.
About 95% destroyed now. So sad that another part of the seaside heritage is lost.
