DIZZI Report 5 Oct 2010 20:14

AN I FOUND IT OFFENSIVE ALSO

ROSE
I AGREE I KNOW MORE BUT EVERYONES ENTITLED
TO HAVE AS MANY CHILDREN THEY WANT

I ALSO KNOW WHERE CB IS SPENDING MONEY FOR THEIR
CHILDREN,,,I SHOULD IMAGINE IT COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS FOR MUMS WHO CANT AFFORD TO DO THAT ,,WHEN THEIR TEENAGES
HEAR OF IT...........(IF YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN)

JoyBoroAngel Report 5 Oct 2010 20:10

i also think child benfit should only be paid for the first two children
to have more than you can afford is irresponsible

TeresaW Report 5 Oct 2010 20:00

I'm sorry Dizzi, but yes it was about CB. YOu can think what you like and try to make me out to be something I'm not, but all I did was express an opinion.

To be accused of something else, I'm not sure what, is frankly offensive.

Rambling Report 5 Oct 2010 19:57

I just have to say something... been there, where the CB made the difference every week putting food on the table, heating, clothes, shoes ( from Woolies actually) etc ... and, sometimes, not often, to buy a cup of coffee 'out' , sometimes to go in a cafe and buy a plate of egg and chips ( me and D ) to feel 'normal' and not 'impoverished scroungers on the state'...

I'm not saying there aren't people who see it as a free ride, ie have loads of kids, get the rent paid etc etc...but that isn't everyone, and unless one knows the individual circumstances it isn't always easy to tell....
I often got comments from a distant-ish relative along the lines of "oh but you get that paid for you don't you" (said about everything from water rates to the phone bill) ..and "NO" was my answer "I have to try and 'juggle' and it isn't easy".

I do think reform is necessary, and those who can do without it, high earners, certainly should.

OPINION YES ..I AGREE
BUT YOURS WASNT ABOUT CB

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 5 Oct 2010 19:35

Calm down Dizzi, I'm entitled to a point of view as well....

Your first post read that you think families get too much....personally, I don't.

DIZZI

DIZZI Report 5 Oct 2010 19:30

OH AND FOR SOME FAMILIES HAVE NO CHOICE BUT BUY

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 5 Oct 2010 19:28

just remember its only going to effect people on high incomes
not those who struggle to put shoes on kids feet

its the people who dont really need the cash
that are not going to get in

nobody is going to steal any kids sweeties

DIZZI Report 5 Oct 2010 19:26

DIZZI

DIZZI Report 5 Oct 2010 19:21

£20.30 a week for your eldest child and;
£13.40 a week for each of your other children

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 5 Oct 2010 19:20

Child benefit is not for buying neighbours coffee. Sorry but that's rather a crass thing to say.
Think about the cost of bringing up children. £30 + for a properly fitting pair of shoes (not ths cheapies from Tesco, that could damage your kids feet because they are not fitted properly), school uniforms, clothes which are grown out of before they wear out, school dinners, pens pencils, workbooks, school trips....and before that, nursery fees etc etc.
For the majority of families, that family allowance is the difference between the kids going barefoot till the end of the month. Believe me, I know, I've raised a couple of my own and without CB I couldn't have done it.
But to give a blanket judgement just like that is so wrong, and hasty.
