In the Mail supplement today, they are printing recipe excerts from a new cook book by Monty Don (such a lovely man) and his wife Sarah, which are traditional British recipes using some of the bountious food crops grown in this country.
What a refreshing change for someone to publich a cook book that is not full of 'foreign' recipes. How often have you opened a bought magazine, instore magazine or supplement that has nothing but 'foreign' foods, with recipes asking for ingredients not available in the provinces, and costly at that.
Although I would deem myself a good cook, and I have not killed anyone yet, I too need inspiration from time to time. I am hoping this book may fulfill that need. So when next in the supermarket, I am going to have a good look at it, because at £25, it is not a cheap venture. However, they usually retail at around half price, after a few weeks.
