I did a bit of Belly Pork last week .Again I have not had that since my Mum did it.Can't remember the recipe but I cooked it for about 3hr 30 min.It was so tender ,,but had to cut all the fat off .The crackling was a cracker lol but no-one likes it!! What a waste .

Jude, glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for the explanation. Will certainly give it a go soon. I havn't bought it for years, and I know my mum never did. Well, even at my age, you are not too old to learn something new. Thanks for sharing with us, and I'll let you know how I fared when I buy some.

PS. Sound just the right cut of beef to kick in the bottom oven of me Aga, and leave it all day.

Mmmthat was yummy, just finished.

Yes its very under rated and usually very cheap cpmpared to other cuts. This piece weighed 2 lbs 10 0z cost £6.04...l cut it in half and let it cook from 10 am took it out about 4pm and turned the oven up for the spud/parsnips, then popped it back to heat it up.
Yes it was black pepper corns, sometime l put mustard seed on too.

The other piece is abit smaller which will be fine cause this one was abit big and it shrank:o))

Let me know if you enjoy it Julia:o)

'Scuse me for sounding abit thick, but I have never come across black peppers. Am I missing something here. Never had brisket for years, but now you have reminded me, I'll give at a go, the next time beef is on the menu.
Thanks

A very under rated piece of meat. As you say it melts in the mouth.

just gorgeous, melts in the mouth. Just put spuds and parsnips in, onions went in ages ago along with garlic and black peppers, will take meat out very soon then turn oven up:o)
