Hi all

I have been trying for ages to find out more about my late grandad Thomas Clarke. I have posted here before and on other sites as well as the IGI but to no avail.
I was 26 when my grandad died in 1979, (he was born 1890) Tommy was a very quiet man who spoke little of his past and sadly I never asked him, indeed my mother and one of her brothers (both now in their 80s) have no idea where their dad was born, They thought England. Tommy came to live in Scotland prior to 1918 because he met and married my gran in Glasgow in 1918. I looked at their marraige cert on SP, the only clues I got from that was that Tommys father was William Clarke (Milk Salesman) deceased and his mother Elizabeth Beaumont, Deceased. I can remember that my grandad spoke with what I took to be an English accent (possibly northern) He died in Greenock Renfrewshire. Can anyone help with searches, suggestions etc please?

There is a suggestion that Thomas worked in the Welsh mines for a while (may just be totally inaccurate)

Do you know if Tommy served in WW1?
