MaxiMary should now go to the FB security page & report the "Hack" They will likely advise what to do next.

It could be that rather than a hack its a worm, & It could have come from an unwitting friend who opened up a similer link on FB & it automatically sent it to all their contacts, including MaxiMary

If thats the case, It will only sent itself to MaxiMary's friends if she clicks on the link in the mail / pm.

These mails will also show up on your home email if you have chosen to get email notifications of PMs from FB. Opening the link could then possibly open up the worm in the email account.

It's so aggravating and causes such problems, as you found A Canuck.
It's the last thing Mary needed at what is already a stressful time for her, I received a similar message a while back from our Taff who used to post on these boards.

Why are people so evil and greedy? There is such a dreadful culture of this get rich quick stuff with people who won't do an honest day's work but will try and take good people's money.

Hi Liz...I had to contend with the very same early in the new year via my yahoo account re same sob story-line. I was totally unaware until I started receiving phone calls from family & friends in UK & here in N/America asking if I was ok etc. I contacted yahoo via phone & explained the situation. They very kindly helped me to resolve the problem & were able to restore my complete address book too, which I thought would be totally lost! Took a few days of sorting out etc & including a new password. I have 2 words for these nasty individuals...scum bags. Hope MaxiMary gets help with this.
K/Regards A/Canuck x

Ignore any messages supposedly from her asking for money....
as follows:

(Hey,
I'm sorry for this odd request because it might get to you too urgent but it's due to the situation of things right now.I'm stuck in London, England last night, came down here for a short vacation then I was robbed, worse of it is that bags, cash and cards and my cell phone were stolen at gun point, it's such a crazy experience for me,I need help flying back home, the authorities are not being 100% supportive but the good thing is I still have our passports and return tickets but currently having troubles paying off the hotel bills and also getting a cab to take me to the airport.

Please i need you to loan me some money, will refund you as soon as i'm back home,I promise please let me know if you can help...
Thanks
Maximary)

Now this has happened to several people recently so if anyone gets a similar message from a friend or acquaintance, ignore it and delete it, do not respond or send anything.

This is the message Mary sent through gr asking me to warn folks, sadly only came on here at 3am today so a bit late...

(Liz, my day has just been ruined completely as someone has hacked my email ANDFacebook account, and sent everyone emails asking for money. Could you please put something up on GR, my address book has vanished as well so I cannot send a bulk email to let people know it's not me! I've been going back over my emails to collect addresses again. You prob received a requet for money to getme out of London
Hope nobody sends any money to the address they gave)

Bless her, as if Mary needs anything more to worry her.

Lizxx
