My husband has few faults, one, he doesnt like going anywhere that means he might have to mix with strangers! I can go if I want, but he cant see that takes away half the fun. And he does go on about people being lazy! we cant all be on the go all the time! Has looked after me through all my illnesses and waits on me and animals with no sign of discontent. Wont have anything to do with money, gives it all to me to sort out. And has never looked at another woman. He is lovely, and even my relatives agree!

mine is also my second husband, and like you Chris, I thought men ?.... Who needs them.
My husband *IS A HUSBAND*.
He has looked after me, and my children, only one of whom is his and if there was any denying to be done... he did it.
*He denied himself* so much so that I and my children could have as much as he could give us.
I have spent the last 23 years as an invalid, and just like GERRYBEAR, and in fact all of you I suspect my husband has done almost everything for me. My son too... anything we need or want, and he is there for us.
Landed on my feet when I met husband number 2!

My OH is great (he puts up with me).
Has some annoying habits but I think we all do.

I think Sandie is right about looking for a man who measures up to dad.

Ann - for over thirty years my second one is everything I could have wished for and did. In sickness and health he has come up trumps over past two years and especially since June 2009. He is my rock, we laugh a lot, talk a lot.

The first was a drunken wife beating bully (died a lonely man at 52) and for five years after getting rid was on my own with kids and did not want to know MEN. Met my love and very very quickly changed my mind.

Strange, so far all that have replied so far have married good men. Nice to know there are lots around. Mine is a star, been married to him for 50 years and would not change him for anything. He always does the ironing and the 'hoovering', puts the washing in a lot of the time, hangs it out. Cleans the cloakroom and bathroom sometimes (toilet included). Cleans windows when we can't see out of them any longer. Does the lion's share of the gardening, all the DIY. Doesn't cook at all but that is a small price to pay. He also enjoys shopping, clothes and food, likes wandering round the shops. Is a great Dad and a wonderful granddad. Love him to bits.

I didn't think it was a joke :) I thought it was inherited .
I looked up to my dad and wouldn't have married anyone with lower than the standards he set :)

I thought the jokey one was ' Look at you're mother in law-- that is what you're wife will be like in yrs to come '
Well mum couldn't do enough for my hubby when she was alive, she always told my sister and I ' Your husband comes first ! '
that's why my sister had no regrets when she moved to S.A after mum had had a stroke.

Many thanks for the replies. Some very pleasant ones. Sandies second line reminds me of the old joke that daughters often marry men like their dad - which is why women cry at weddings.

Can't generalise really, but I picked a good one:)

Don't they say if you have a good relationship with your dad you look for the same traits in a prospective partner..?

Well I found one, loving , kind, generous and helpful to those in need, compassionate,financially astute, expert with computers.. was a late starter , DIY competent, helps with housework without asking, but he like dad is not a walkover in work.
Dad and hubby had/have a reputation for being fair but outspoken, both were /are middle managers, who look after their staff and are not afraid to voice their opinion against their managers if required.
Hubby does that frequently, and his boss won't pass any monthly or annual accounts without his say so.lol
Dad and hubby got on famously, tho I was a tomboy, hubby was dad's son he never had :)
My sister's hubby didn't have the same qualities as dad or my hubby, but dad didn't treat him any different, probably did his DIY and car fixing for him, a very clever man but a bit selfish, but I still love him ,he's my bil and sisters choice.

After 34 yrs of a happy marriage I can't wish for anything more in my man:)

My husband does all the cooking, which I hate. He's also the kindest and most generous of people. He doesn't mind shopping; he's always been a great Dad to our girls (now with homes of their own, but he's still willing to help them).

On the not-so-good side, he does all his tidying away of clothes and any paperwork in huge bursts. That means we often have a huge pile of clothes and endless paper around for ages in our very small house. He's not too careful about leaving mud outside, either. On the whole, though, I'd a lot rather he did that, and kept on being the lovely person he is! Sloppy or what? ; )

I actually like men.
an army baby, I spent most of my early life... 15 years.. with men.
I have 2 daughters and 2 sons...
The most affectionate person I know, is my youngest son.
Loving, giving, loyal, trustworthy..... all the wonderful attributes a human being can have.
Faults???
OF COURSE..... he is after all human, but the goodness outweighs the faults.
His father is also a good man...
I am not blind to the faults of men, but neither am I blind to the faults of women... they too are human.
Now to me....... completely faultless? NO....
BUT ALMOST..... ;-0)

What I like about men ...

is that they are nearly always much quicker through the super market checkout, they don't seem surprised that they actually have to have money handy , and their purse is never at the bottom of a handbag ;)

Now we have got that one out of the way, I thought it would be nice to change the usual order of things and ask what you like about men ( I nearly said what little things). I might add, that I'm 78 so I'm not looking for tips.

Although, once you have filled the spaces in, if it really would make you feel better to have a grumble, please do so on this so beautiful morning, with the birds.............
