I shed a tear or two this morning. I hope all this publicity these men are getting will line their pockets, and bring safer work to their doors.

I think a lot of counselling will be needed. The news said the Chilean government will be providing intensive counselling for 6 months.

a story of true heroism and true grit - I see a film coming out of this - for once we can use the word "awesome" because that is exactly what it is - how amazing are these Chilean engineers - usually you expect countries to turn to the U.S. or us for expertise in these matters but they have it all.

I was surprised to see how fit and clean the miners klook - I expected them to look dirty, unshaven and haggard but not at all - fantastic

I've just watched the 21st miner come out. This is the miner who may have wanted to stay there:-)) His wife said that she was happy that he is alive but that she wouldn't be there. Looks like he has a few things to sort out between his wife and girlfriend. There was a woman to greet him but it was thought that it may have been his sister. Oh dear:-))

very mixed bunch
one of them, his wife asked him to put his notice int he day it calapsed, and she has warned him she will divorce him if he ever goes bck mining haha x

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 14 Oct 2010 15:25

according to sky news, he wrote to his wie and mistress and asked fr them both to be there when he came out, the mitress went but the wife declined with the ultimatum, its her or me, what an awful situation to be in, definitly wld be mixed emotions,

what a fab jobt hey did getting them all out safe, its reported there all been declared fit and well,

SueMaid Report 14 Oct 2010 20:45

I was watching Sky news and the reporter said that it was remarkable that all the miners are as fit as they are considering they spent 70 days underground.

I'm hoping that when it all hits home what they've gone through that they get the counselling and help they need. I'm thinking that for the families it will be like a husband, father etc. coming home from the war. Life will never be the same.
