I had not thought I was going to need it as I don't usually go on facebook when away, only Genes. However my sister tried to send me a message on facebook instead of e mailing me so I thought I'd just go on, thought I remembered the password but didn't. I never use a password here because I have got the remember me facility activated. I seemed to get all sorts of photos as if it was trawling hrough the albums people have. Otherwise why would I get young children?

No Ann, they were all my adult friends or family and easily recognizable. I think it very odd that you got cars, dogs etc. I didn't realise until I read your other thread that you couldn't remember your password - this probably made you more 'suspect' as far as they were concerned, I guess. I made sure I wrote my FB and GR passwords on a piece of paper to put in my purse before I left, because I have a memory like a sieve!!

Strange thing is Wend that although it said there were other options I could never get to them, only the photo one. Didn't you have phots of children, cars and dogs among your then? I don't actually recognise a lot of my friends anyway because theya re from here and some don't have their photos on facebook but a cartoon or something.

Hi Ann - I have just returned from Spain, where I was fortunate enough to get into Facebook, unlike you. Initially, I was asked to identify 6 of my friends in various group photos, which I was able to do quite easily, although I'd never seen any of the photos before. There were other options to verify my account, but I don't know what they were, as the photo option was the first that came up.

I think it's absurd that you've been locked out and, if it were me, I'd be hopping mad! Is there no way you can get in contact with them to put matters right? There should be a 'help' or 'contact us' option. I haven't checked this, but will now.

Edit - I've just read your other thread Ann and I'm pleased you've got it sorted now.

This Facebook business is a real farce. For goodness sake don't get locked out yourself.

What they do is, ask you to verify your account by identifying your friend. Sound easy? Well it isn't and I want to get the message to people on there of what happens.

They give you one try an hour. They put up a list of, I think, about 6 people. They give you the opportunity to have 2/3 'don't knows'. Still sound easy?

Well the photos they put up are awful and I think they are not just the photos by peoples' names but also from their albums. Yesterday I had two different photos for one name, one of a person and one of a wedding, I had a car, I had numerous children aged from baby to about 12, I had two school photos (i.e. a large group of very small figures).

Like many people my friends come from all walks of life but, in my case, mainly from Genes Reunited. I don't usually look at their photo albums and rarely study the photo next to their name. And to confuse even further, if they are using albums and photos are put on of meetings of Genes friends, it could be from anyone's album on Genes.

Can you take this message and put it on as a message to all your friends to warn them of what can happen please. That way people will be careful to avoid the situation.
I can't see me ever getting back in, and the way I feel I only want to get in to delete my account.
