getting out ok!! So emotional watching the footage, I sat here and cried my eyes out. Its the five year anniversary of my lovely granny's death and it seems so fitting (for us) that they are being saved on this day. Lovely seeing them reunited with their children and wives/partners and family. x

Absolutely wonderful scenes and to see the joy on the miners' faces when their family hug them, well, who hasn't wept!

Like you, Annie, I never have the TV on before 6pm, but this morning, whilst lying in bed listening to the radio, they said 2 men were out!
I rushed downstairs and had BBC news on TV.
Nearly missed the bus!
Had the BBC news website open all day at work too!

It's so wonderful!!!

Incredible to watch. I felt quite emotional just watching it.
The families must be so relieved.

Have been flicking back and forth to BBC24 news all day watching the rescue.
Pray that all the miners and the rescue workers all make it safely.
No 22 on his way up now.

xx

I watched from the beginning of the rescue effort late on Tuesday evening and have watched off and on all day, it's been so moving and amazing and has done wonders for the people of Chile too Their president seems a really good chap and his wife too, spending time comforting the families as they wait and such. No matter their position and wealth, they seem to be really caring and ordinary type of people and it must have been lovely for the people to see him helping the wives etc.

I thought is was awful that they repeated the info about the wife and the mistress set up that was revealed during the early days and said that the mistress has been given power of attorney for the miner's money etc. None of the reporters really knew which woman it was who turned up to greet the miner but many said it was the wife! Oh well I guess it will all come out in the wash but hope the wife doesn't lose out money wise, there apparently were no children of the marriage.

Now all the miners are out and just the rescuers and medics to come up.
I wish them all the best for their future lives.

Great co-operation and a wonderful result

01:51 GMT and the last miner is lifted to the top and on safe ground. All went well.
Well done to all that took part in bringing about a happy ending to a 69 day ordeal.

Really wanted to see the last ones out and all the celebrations that I presume they were, fell asleep I was so tired. But thank goodness there were no casualties, what a lovely Christmas they'll all have. Especially as they were initially told they wouldnt be out til Christmas. x

What I want to know is, who put out the lights and switched the camera off lol

The hole has a cover over it now and the capsule lies alongside, all battered and scraped. Good thing it's not the UK, someone would have stolen it for scrap value or to sell on ebay by now

A whole new era for Chile, I think.
