The district nurse has been coming to dress my leg ulcer, and left my notes, asking me if I would fill in my personal details for her. This I did, but looking for the bits she wanted answering, I found the current list of my problems, and I am down as having grade 3 kidney disease. Now I can ask her about this on Friday, but am gobsmacked as no one has told me! Dont know about treatments, know that diet is part of it, and can relate my itchy skin to this problem, but otherwise am ignorant of current thought. Anyone out there with any information, all would be helpful.

My Mum had an ulcer on her leg which the nurse came to clean ,repack and dress everyday,it did not seem to be getting any better .
Mum decided she had had enough of this so we washed it with boiled water and salt and let the sun get to it . Within a week it had cleared up.

Have spoken to GP and he tells me that this is something they now have to record, though all it means is the changes that occur with old age, and nothing can be done for it, So panic over. Thanks for advice about ulcer as well.

Just found this, Jean, and I'm appalled that no one mentioned it to you, even if it was nothing to worry about. Finding it, as you did, will, of course, cause you to worry. I'm glad it's turned out to be ok. So much for our right to know the info that others hold about us!

That is a dreadful way for you to find out about a medical problem YOU have.
I could think that it is better for us all to be told the truth no matter how unpleasant it may be... or is that just me ,would some of you rather not know?

How are you doing Jean, well I hope?

Hello Jean....l must admit when you told me the other day you had to fill in the forms l thought it abit strange, but then as you were a nurse, you'd probably seen these notes before....but no you had'nt and l really think it was'nt a good idea of district nurse. But you now know that it is'nt something to worry over, so hope you are not????

Take care

Jude, it was only the personal information that I was doing, not nursing notes and I did it as a favour to her as she was running late.
To all, i was a bit concerned but having spoken to GP I feel happier, after all we all run down as we get older! Will see him on Tuesday anyway for more words, face to face.

Deanna, I would rather know what is wrong with me any day. How can you fight something you dont know you have got? If I was terminal, I would like the chance to settle affairs and say goodbye to people, and make my wishes known.
