Something I really want to do, and have wanted to do for about ten years but have never dared, Im not an extremely extrovert person. As some of you may know, I read palms and the crystal ball, for a few pounds on Eb*y but also free for people I know. I would LOVE to hire rooms on a once-monthly basis and read palms/the ball the the public, obviously I'd have to advertise with posters, leaflets, facebook etc, and I'd love every second of it. But I havent got the nerve to actually start, I think I'd just go completely blank. Has anyone done actually done this or knows anyone who has?

It seems so scary and nerve wracking yet I actually want to do it, so I dont know why, I think its the thought of facing lots of strangers. I already have the table, equipment, business cards, etc etc.

Before you start investing more money have you thought of volunteering to do it for charity at a fete or something like that to see how you cope?

Why not find a charity event, some sort of fair or other and have a table there as a practice run. (I would suggest not a church event though!)

Do you know what, I'd never even thought of that. I keep saying to my family, 'I need strangers to practise on!'. That is a good idea ladies, thankyou. I've just missed a summer fair locally but theres going to be Christmas ones coming up and whatever else so hopefully I can take the plunge.....or die of fright trying. But thankyou for this idea!! x PS, Looks like you can read each others minds, dont put me out of business ;-)

As has been suggested try a fete or charity event to see how it goes before you start hiring rooms or halls.

And don't forget the new legislation about Mystics.

Psychics, Mediums, Complementary Health Practitioners and so forth now have to base their claims on what is scientifically demonstrable. If they cannot do this then a standard disclaimer to the effect that the service is provided for 'entertainment' is expected. This is more so the case if there is any financial exchange for services.

But good luck with your venture all the same.

Stu.

Yes, I have that on my business cards, although they're loosening up now on it.
