Havent seen any mention of this, thought I would bring it up. This lady in the past has been very influential in nursing, and campaigned for better hospital treatment of patients and staff, long before she became an agony aunt. She deserves some recognition for her work.

I saw it on the news, I remembered her from her TV days, an icon of the agony aunts!

Always read Claire Rayner's columns and articles Jean, because she 'spoke' with common sense, having,as she would say "been there!"

It's been a sad week with the deaths of other famous people,
Roy Ward Baker,Sir Norman Wisdom, Solomon Burke and sadly Dame Joan Sutherland.

They had her son on radio 4 yesterday mornings news.
He spoke so affectionately on his mother (& father...) and how proud he was of her.
There was a good bit on BBC1 news (TV) about her, although I do agree that after all the good work she has done for the good of the NHS.... it was a little less than she deserved.
I am not a great lover of the books written by celebs' , but Claire Rayner's book which I bought years ago, was a good INTERESTING read.
Perhaps that was because she had so much to say.
I have read many of her novels too. A woman with a great feeling for people.

RIP Claire, you brought me a lot of pleasure.

She should have been made a Dame for all the hard work she did in her life.
She was dedicated to helping to people, and was an inspiration to so many.
I think she was the best agony aunt of them all.

R.I.P. Claire, and you have left so many people with the knowledge that they were helped into the world by a truly dedicated midwife and nurse, and a truly passionate woman, who never forgot the poverty she was brought up in.

She was very genuine and I always used to read her columns, a no nonsence lady but a kind one.

Don't know if she actually said it but she was supposed to have said either to or about David Cameron. If he messes up her beloved NHS she will come back and haunt him!

Sorry Norman, I almost forgot you.
When I was a young woman, you were on TV on a Wednesday evening.... and the riches man in the whole world could have asked me out ( as he often did, ha ha )
and I would not have left the house.
RIP Norman.

And Joan Sutherland too. she sang some of my favourite arias to me... just for me!
Thank you Joan RIP.

I loved it when she stated her last words were to be:
Tell David Cameron that if he screws up my beloved NHS I'll come back and bloody haunt him."

Wonderful woman.

I was sad to see she had died, she was an amazing woman, so caring and so forthright too, no faffing about with her.

I liked some of her books too and she won't be forgotten in a hurry.
Would like to think she really sent that 'threat' to DC.

Rest in Peace Claire - a life well lived.
