Now I have been on here for years and just know there is a 'map' of relations that describes how you are related to another person somewhere but just cannot find it now.

I also saw someone mention a 'Relationship to Me' button, but I just can't seem to find that either. I am currently chatting and sharing photos with my grandfather's sister's grandchild. What does this make us? Third cousins?

I think it is first cousins once removed

Thanks Chris for a very swift reply. However I think that is my relationship with her father. Our parents would be first cousins, isn't the once removed part referring to my relationship to her father?

It makes you second cousins.

Your parent and the other person's parent will be cousins and therefore both of you are second cousins to each other.

You have to go into full tree. Make sure that you are the last person viewed. When you have found the person you want your relationship to, hover your mouse over their name.

Its Ancestry which has the 'relationship to me' button. Perhaps that's what you were remembering?

(and I'm not stalking Kathleen in case she gets paranoid -- lol )

Thank you so much Kathleen and DET. I have just tried full tree mode out and it works like a dream. It's nice to know who you are talking to (and about!!). These sites are a fantastic find and for the first time in years I know who is in my photos.

There is also a Relationship Chart on GR.

Select HotMatches from the tab above and you will see it on the right hand side of the page
