I have been researching my family tree for the last 10years.
Now I have problem with 'wet' M.D.
Are there any other members who have this problem and how do you cope with small print and the none ability to magnify.

My MIL had this and we brought her a magnifying glass so she could read. She had one with a handle and one that she could put down on to page and span along. When her eyes got too bad she had talking books, I know this wont help you for the PC but the one with a handle may help.

There was a lady, who put up a thread here on General a couple of weeks ago. She was saying she had been away from the computer for quite a while, owing to her gradually losing her eyesight. She had now bought a special computer for people that were blind.
Perhaps someone reading this thread, may remember who it was, and nudge up her thread.

My 92 year old Mum is having stem cell injections into her "bad" eye. It's a bit like re-seeding a lawn , they place the cells into the weak areas to grow new patches . It seems to be working quite well.so far but close work like sewing is still difficult.

If you put the words 'magnify the screen' into your search engine, google or whatever, you will get lots of advice.

My Mums got this condition and finds things very hard, she's not a computer user but on my computer there is a tab you can click on- not on Genes but on the actual windows bit, it says "page", click on that then it comes up "zoom", if you click on that you can make everything much bigger. If you think normal view is 100%-try clicking on 200% or even 400%, Try it !!!! It's easy to change and change back for normal viewing,

Hope it helps a bit,
Tina x

Hello Denise

Sorry to hear about the macular degeneration. I have a close friend with this condition, and she has injections at regular intervals.

It was thought by my optician three years since that I too had amd. I started buying and taking natural lutein tablets from healthspan.

Earlier this year, I had to go to the eye clinic, after a routine exam at the opticians, who said the pressure in my other eye was too high. After several tests at the eye clinic, I was told that there was no sign of amd in either eye.

But I still take one lutein tablet per day.

I wish you all the best.
